Duncan is our Player of the Week for 7–11 September. Wins over Angus and Stewart, followed by Friday’s victory against Matt, made him our editorial choice for a week in which his league challenge gathered momentum.
Friday was hardly straightforward. As Gary reported from the game, Matt suffered a dart falling out when aiming at treble 18, while Duncan later hit 107 to leave a finish. Both struggled on the doubles and the match went to a highest-score decider. Matt posted 31; Duncan followed with 34 to take the win.
That result moved Duncan to 42 points from 19 matches, above Duane’s 40 and seven behind Gary’s 49. With two fewer matches played than the leader, Duncan finished the week in a position to keep the title race interesting.
The award recognises the week as a whole, rather than claiming every performance was dominant. Gary’s own player of the day on Friday was Angus, whose controlled finish against Barry deserved recognition. Duncan gets the weekly selection for combining wins against Angus and Stewart with the points he eventually secured against Matt.
This first selection draws on Gary’s match reports alongside the website’s recorded results and standings as of 12 September. Older imported matches do not have reliable individual dates, so they have not been counted as a complete weekly statistical leaderboard. No averages or checkout percentages have been assumed.
Duncan takes the first award. The challenge now is to keep producing results with Gary still setting the pace at the top.
