Gary is the 2026 Springwell Cup champion after defeating Angus 3–2 in a final that went the full five legs on Friday 30 October.
Already crowned league champion, Gary completed the league-and-cup double by finding double one in the deciding leg. Angus was left on nine when the winning dart landed.
The final was played over the best of five legs of 301, double out. At two legs apiece, the destination of the cup came down to one last leg and the ability to finish under pressure.
The closing exchanges were tense. Gary worked his remaining score down to two, but missed opportunities allowed Angus to stay in contention. Angus reduced 24 to nine on his final visit; Gary then returned, missed with his first dart and landed double one with his second.
Gary recorded the match’s highest visit of 121 and two visits of 100 or more. Angus’s highest visit was 83. Neither player registered a 180.
For Angus, a deciding-leg defeat ends his cup run one win short of the title. For Gary, it completes a season in which he has claimed both the DDL league championship and the Springwell Cup.
